Get Started with Social Journalism & Reporting with The Reporters' Academy
21st - 25th June
For 16-25 year olds in Greater Manchester
Free course delivered online and in-person at MediaCityUK
Do you want to explore careers in social journalism?
Get Started in Social Journalism and Reporting is a free five-day course hosted by The Reporters’ Academy in partnership with The Prince’s Trust.
Over five days, you will:
Delve into what social journalism and reporting is
Build the relevant skills to become a budding journalist
Take part in engaging and exciting tasks
Meet guest speakers who'll give you an insight into the industry
On the fourth day, you'll use the skills you've developed on the course to create your very own media output of your choice. Whether you’re a writer or podcaster, we’ll help you create media content that’s suited to you and about a topic of your choice. This will be a great piece of content to add to your CV, portfolio and job or university applications.
We’ll end the course with a group celebration at MediaCityUK with plenty of praise and refreshments!
This course will be delivered through a mix of online and in-person learning. Monday and Friday will be face-to-face at The Reporters' Academy HQ at MediaCityUK where you’ll get hands-on experience with media equipment. Sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be online.
